The National Hockey League may have a significant problem on its hands on Monday.

Earlier today we reported on the fact that significant delays to a flight out of Columbus had prevented the Columbus Blue Jackets from flying to Ottawa as originally planned, and now there are reports of even more delays.

The Blue Jackets were supposed to take off at 10:00 am this morning but an additional delay has now pushed that all the way back to 1:45 pm according to Blue Jackets insider Aaron Portzline. Additionally, he reports that mechanical errors and travel delays have been the cause of today's issues.

The bigger issue however may be the lack of preparation time that the Blue Jackets will have as a result of the delays. According to Portzline, the Blue Jackets could arrive to the Canadian Tire Center for tonight's game against the Ottawa Senators as late as 4:00 pm. As a result the National Hockey League Players Association has been notified of the situation and we will have to see if that causes any additional headaches for the NHL in this matter.

The Blue Jackets have already had to forgo their morning skate as a result of this delay and I could see the NHLPA arguing that the players not getting enough time to prepare ahead of time is a problem from their perspective.
