The Ontario Hockey League has officially issued a ruling following a vicious attack by Brampton Steelheads defenseman Luke Dragusica.

In an official announcement, the OHL has announced that Dragusica will be suspended for the entire duration of the season as well as the playoffs for what can only be described as a vicious slash to the head of an opponent. While Dragusica's suspension will only cover this current season and the playoffs, there is no guarantee that he will be allowed to continue his hockey career in the OHL with Dragusica having to apply for reinstatement before he can return to play.

If you missed my original report on this incident, Dragusica would unleash the attack on unsuspecting Oshawa Generals defenseman Brady Blaseg after he took exception to a hit that Blaseg delivered during the final minutes of the game's third period. The game was well out of reach at the time, with Dragusica's Steelheads leading the game by a score of 3-0, which made his decision to retaliate in such a violent fashion all that much more shocking.

Here is a look at the replay of the incident:

Blaseg was left in a heap on the ice after taking the blow to the head, and the damage that was done was clearly visible with a pool of crimson forming on the ice below Blaseg who had been busted open by the vicious slash.

Certainly an incident worthy of such a severe suspension and one that is so extreme that I hope the reinstatement panel does a thorough job of reviewing Dragusica's application for reinstatement before making their decision.
