Oilers and Blues make a trade.
The Edmonton Oilers and St. Louis Blues have made a trade.
According to an official announcement from the Oilers, the organization has acquired centerman Klim Kostin from the Blues and will be sending defenseman Dmitri Samorukov back the other way to the Blues.
In Dmitri Samorukov the Oilers lose a 23 year old defenseman that has spent most of his time playing for the Oilers at the American Hockey League level. Last season, Samorukov appeared in 51 games for the Oilers AHL affiliate, the Bakersfield Condors, scoring 3 goals and adding 15 assists for an 18 point season.
Klim Kostin has significantly more NHL experience, most of which came last season with the St. Louis Blues when he appeared in 40 games, scoring 4 goals and adding 5 assists for a 9 point season. The 23 year old forward also spent 17 games in the AHL last season with the Blues AHL affiliate, the Springfield Thunderbirds, where he had 3 goals and 3 assists for a 6 point season at the AHL level.
