The Edmonton Oilers now officially have a new jersey.

Last week I covered what appeared to be an early leak of the new jersey and with today's official announcement I can now confirm that the leak was indeed authentic.

On Saturday, the Oilers introduced their new alternate jerseys for the upcoming 2025-26 National Hockey League regular season and did so by releasing a short one minute video highlighting the brand new look.

The responses to the initial leak, which was admittedly a poor quality photograph of the jersey, was generally more negative but the response to today's official announcement seems to have completely spun that narrative around. The reception from fans in the comments has been overwhelmingly positive with many expressing their excitement at the anticipation of getting their hands on the new look.

The jersey blends together a mix of the old and the new but remains a relatively standard Oilers jersey nonetheless. It features the traditional purple and orange of the Oilers while dispensing with the team's logo in front of the jersey and replacing it with the team name's name instead.

The video that was released prominently features Oilers veteran Mattias Ekholm who makes sure to let you know that you're in "Oil country" as soon as the video gives us our first good look at the jersey.

You can check out that video just below, and be sure to let me know what you think of the new look in the comments.
