Olczyk linked to Blackhawks' staff as team continues to spiral
Can Eddie O save the Blackhawks?

Last offseason when the Chicago Blackhawks parted ways with long-time President and CEO John McDonough, there were multiple reports that long-time Blackhawks broadcaster and all-around franchise icon Eddie Olcyzk was set to join the team's front office. And then... nothing.
Now though, it sounds like Olcyzk may indeed be on the Blackhawks' radar and again there are multiple reports that he will leave his broadcasting gig, now with TNT as opposed to NBC, to join his beloved Blackhawks.
In his most recent 31 Thoughts podcast, Sportsnet NHL insider Elliotte Friedman reports that Olcyzk would be a perfect fit to help calm restless fans in Chicago.
"I wonder if they go to someone like Ed Olczyk who's got a lot of cachet with the fans and say we need you to come in here and help rebuild this," Friedman reports.
Blackhawks insider Scott Powers reported way back in April of 2020 that Olczyk has had discussions with the team:
Interesting. Olczyk has been around the game for decades and knows it from so many angles. He's been a player, a coach, a broadcaster, an executive... he wears many, many hats. What better place to take on a new challenge as President and CEO than his hometown?
If nothing else, his hiring would be seen as a win amongst the team's fanbase and well... you won't find many wins in the team's standings this season. Thoughts, Blackhawks fans? Would you welcome Eddie O back into the fold?
