Panthers show the ultimate respect to Jonathan Quick this evening

Jonathan Quick's Hall of Famer worthy career has come to a close.

Following his final NHL game this evening,, the host Florida Panthers stayed on the ice to shake Quick's hand and give him the send off that he deserves.

The puck has officially dropped on the Jonathan Quick's final NHL game.

The future Hall of Famer announced today that he'll retire this upcoming offseason and that tonight's game against the Florida Panthers will be his last professional game.

In honor of their goaltender, the Rangers all donned Quicks' #32 for warmup this evening:

The New York Rangers will play what should have been a meaningless game for their franchise on Monday night when they face off against the Florida Panthers, but suddenly after a major announcement earlier today it is a game that carries a great deal of weight.

Veteran Rangers goaltender Jonathan Quick will be playing in his final ever National Hockey League game after a career that has spanned over 800 regular season games, 2 Vezina Trophies and 2 Stanley Cup championships, all of which have made him inarguably one of the greatest American-born goaltenders of all time. It will be a big deal for everyone involved on the Rangers side of the ice and I suspect that they will do everything in their power to get Quick a win against the Panthers this evening.

Quick himself spoke about what it will mean to him to play his final game tonight, revealing that his family will be there to support him.

"Obviously, the past few years, very lucky to be part of this organization and wear this jersey, but tonight will be my last game in the league," said Quick on Monday. "You know, I'm looking forward to it. Very fortunate. Wife flew down with the kids. So they'll be here in attendance tonight. My parents will be here. So looking forward to this last one and try to get one more win here."

Quick took the time to thank the Rangers who he revealed helped him keep things under wraps in the days leading up to today's announcement.

"With the ups and downs the season, you don't really want to admit it to yourself, you know?" admitted Quick. "So as we kind of got towards the end of the season here, I let Chris [Drury] know and Sully know. Just so they can plan accordingly. I'm grateful for them. They've helped me out through this process. And let me know games I'm going to start so I can make sure to get the family there and stuff like that."

So why all the secrecy? Well according to Quick he was worried that a certain someone in the Quick household would spill the beans, revealing that his wife Jaclyn can struggle to keep a secret.
