We have reached a new level in the ongoing Patrick Kane trade situation. According to insider Chris Johnston, “the word is that the Patrick Kane situation will come to a head well before [trade deadline]” which is just a week away.

“Expect a resolution in the next 24 hours or so. I’m told that Kane hasn’t waived his no-movement clause to facilitate a deal as of now.”

While Kane’s agent Pat Brisson told Pierre Lebrun on Thursday night that his superstar client remained undecided about waiving his no-movement clause, the insider also reports that we could get a decision as early as today.

The odds are in favour of the New York Rangers landing Kane ahead of the trade deadline, with latest reports indicating that the Blue Shirts are shopping for a third team to get in the mix to absorb some of the star forward's annual cap.

On Friday, Kane was not on the ice in San Jose ahead of the Blackhawks's match against the Sharks on Saturday. The team stated that it was due to maintenance, however, Kane might be deep in thought on what to do next with his agent near by.

Kane has tallied seven goals in the past four outings, basically shoving it to anyone who has questioned his game and his nagging hip. The Rangers observed that despite acquiring Vladimir Tarasenko earlier this month, they could managed to get Kane as well if they receive the help on a third team to complete the transaction.

As Johnston puts it: stay tuned.
