There will be a lot of New York Rangers fans pointing to this moment if Game 7 does not go their team's way tonight.
The Pittsburgh Penguins have scored something of a controversial goal in the final and deciding game of their opening round Stanley Cup playoff series against the Rangers, and quite honestly this one may have simply been too close to call.
The goal was scored by Jake Guentzel and, controversy aside, it was one of the prettiest goals you're ever going to see scored in a Game 7 situation. Guentzel showed what was frankly insane levels of hand eye coordination when he kicked a puck that had just bounced off of a Rangers' stick up to himself and proceeded to bat that very same puck out of mid air and into the Rangers net.
It was the kind of ridiculous play required for the Penguins to beat Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin on the night, and it will likely go down as one of the most incredible goals of Jake Guentzel's career.
The controversy stemmed from the positioning of Guentzel's stick when he batted it out of midair, with some feeling that his stick was above the crossbar at the time it made contact with the puck. That being said, upon video review the officials would uphold the original call on the ice of a good goal.
