Star defenseman Quinn Hughes had a very good debut with his new team, the Minnesota Wild, after what is likely to go down as the biggest trade of the season. Hughes looked excellent in his first game chewing up ice time as he is known to do while also managing to find the back of the net, picking up his first goal as a member of the Wild.

You almost could have called the whole thing a picture perfect debut for Hughes, that is except for one small detail.

It seems that Hughes, on his journey to Minnesota, may have left his equipment behind in his brother's car. When Hughes was asked about the missing equipment, he merely denied his culpability with a smile that told the whole story.

"I don't know what you're talking about," said Hughes looking as guilty as can be.

When asked if Wild general manager Bill Guerin should be getting the blame for the lost equipment, Hughes finally confessed that the mistake had been his own.

"Nah nah, it was definitely on me," admitted Hughes. "I'm thankful I got some really good people in my corner who were able to make it work for me."

Hughes would go on to reveal that he has been getting a ton of support from his family with this newest chapter in his life, with even his mom jumping into action to help her son with what will no doubt be a challenging transition.

"I've got an amazing mom who flew to Vancouver today from Edmonton and cleaned me out, so I'm thankful for that," said Hughes.

Hughes also admitted he's going to have some shopping to do to prepare himself for the Minnesota winter, but all in all the transition for Hughes seems to be going well thanks in large part to the great support group he has around him.
