Red Wings fans have had enough and are making it known loud and clear.
I don't think we have to wonder about how fans of the Detroit Red Wings feel about the current direction of their team any longer.
It has been a really tough stretch for Red Wings fans with a 10 seasons long playoff drought only getting worse earlier this summer when the teams captain, Dylan Larkin, asked to be traded. You may have thought that the franchise had hit rock bottom at that point but you would have been wrong as things somehow managed to get even worse over the weekend.
On Saturday, it was revealed that Red Wings defenseman Simon Edvinsson has now also requested a trade out of Detroit after he showed up to training camp despite not having a contract, only for the Red Wings to fail to sign him prior to the start of the season. Whether or not the news around Edvinsson was the straw that broke the camel's back, the Red Wings fans who filled Little Caesars Arena on Sunday afternoon had clearly decided enough was enough.
In a stunning protest, not against the players, not against the management, but directly against team owner Chris Ilitch, fans who had paid good money to attend the game began to chant "Sell The Team" loud and clear.
While you could make them out on the broadcast, they were deafening inside of the building itself.
