Report: A minor trade made to start of the trade deadline day.
We have our first trade.

We have a very small trade to start the NHL trade deadline.
According to a report from Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette the Pittsburgh Penguins have managed to trade Sergei Plotnikov, who was threatening to return to Russia if a trade was not made.
Given that the Penguins and Plotnikov clearly had a strained relationship, he was a health scratchy for 19 consecutive games, the team did not get a major return, as was expected. The Penguins did get something back after dealing Plotnikov to the Arizona Coyotes who will give up a seventh-round draft choice in 2017 and minor-leaguer Matthias Piachta.
