Report: DeSmith out long-term, Jarry not ready to return
Some serious concerns in the Penguins' net.
HockeyFeed
According to NHL insider Frank Seravalli, the Pittsburgh Penguins will be without goaltender Casey DeSmith for at least the rest of the team's playoff series against the New York Rangers as DeSmith recovers from a groin injury.
Additionally, Seravalli reports that the team's usual starter Tristan Jarry has still not fully recovered from a broken foot. Veteran backup Louis Domingue is expected to start Game 2 tonight against the Rangers.
From Seravalli:
DeSmith, of course, left Game 1 midway through overtime with what was assumed to be cramping and has now been confirmed to be a groin injury. Domingue came in off the bench and played well enough to secure the victory for Pittsburgh, turning aside all shots that came his way.
Needless to say that even as good as Domingue looked in Game 1, Pens fans would feel a lot more comfortable with either DeSmith or Jarry in the fold. The real question is whether or not Domingue can hold down the fort until either man is ready to return. How you feeling, Pens fans?
