In other words: He's not going anywhere.

Florida Panthers head coach Joel Quenneville met with NHL commissioner Gary Bettman at the league's head offices in New York City today to discuss his involvement in the alleged sexual abuse scandal that occurred during Quenneville's time as the Chicago Blackhawks' head coach in 2010.

Quenneville, of course, is alleged to have had intimate knowledge about the abuse suffered by then Blackhawks prospect Kyle Beach at the hands of the team's then video coach Brad Aldrich. Beach has stated that he himself saw meetings being held by Quenneville in an effort to address the assault.

"I witnessed meetings right after I reported [the assault] to James Gary that were held in Joel Quenneville's office," Beach said yesterday to TSN's Rick Westhead. "There's absolutely no way he can deny knowing it."

Quenneville, meanwhile, has denied having any knowledge of the abuse and has stated that he only learned of it when Beach's allegations became public this past offseason. Again, Beach maintains that Quenneville is lying.

Which brings us back to Quenneville's meeting with commissioner Bettman today. While we don't have the specifics of that meeting, we do know that Quenneville has not been ordered to resign from his position with the Panthers either by Bettman himself or by anyone else.

TSN's Chris Johnston reported the latest on the situation in this evening's "Insider Trading" segment:

"On Thursday the possibility that Joel Quenneville might be terminated or asked to resign did hang in the air that meeting, it ended up not being something that came to light, there was no decision rendered here and there's further discussion that needs to happen."

"It's my understanding that all options remain on the table, that he might have his contract terminated, he could be asked to resign or there could still be a suspension at play here."

"Another thing that's been contemplated is that Friday's game in Detroit that whether Joel Quenneville will be behind the bench, no final decision but it was certainly discussed that he might sit it out as this process plays on."

- Chris Johnston, TSN

Wait... what?

Quenneville's termination "hung in the air" but it didn't "come to light"? What the Hell is that supposed to mean?

Bettman didn't want to hurt Coach Q's feelings by asking him the hard questions?

Needless to say, I'll be eagerly awaiting tomorrow's game between the Florida Panthers and Detroit Red Wings...
