Rumor: Is Ron Hextall pursuing a goalie he already worked with?

Goaltenders + Flyers = endless story

He already worked with him in the past. The fit is there.

When Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Steve Mason met with general manager Ron Hextall at the conclusion of the Flyers’ 2016-17 campaign, the 29 year-old goaltender’s only request was that the team not string him along with regards to their plans in net for 2017-18. Five weeks later and it’s still not clear what the Flyers plans are for Mason.

Will the Flyers walk away from Mason this summer or elect to bring him back for another spin? Mason is just as stumped as you or I, saying at the time, "They have to figure some things out. Whatever those things are, I'm not aware of." Talk about not knowing where you stand…

What if Jonathan Bernier could be the option Ron Hextall is pursuing? Does Jonathan Bernier make sense for the Flyers? He played under Hextall in L.A. for years. . He was drafted in the first round, 11th overall, of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft by the Los Angeles Kings, the team with whom he played his first four NHL seasons. Bernier was part of the 2012 Los Angeles Kings team that won the Stanley Cup.

Flyers fan, would you take him?
