Fans got to see a whole lot about the Toronto Maple Leafs in Amazon Prime Video’s original docuseries “All or Nothing: Toronto Maple Leafs.” The series will give viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the roller-coaster world of an NHL team throughout the 2020-21 season, which we all know, ended for the Leafs with a stunning playoff exit by the Montreal Canadiens.
The Maple Leafs were leading the first round series 3-1 before the Habs came back and ousted them - yes again in the first round. The series showed how hard it was for players to handle the loss and how devastating the impacts were on them.
However, with the 2021-22 season now underway and the Maple Leafs struggling to find ways to score and win games, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman wonders if the series has harmed the team, especially forward Mitch Marner, who not only struggled big time in the postseason, but has done very little since the season opener.
He pointed out from the series “a meeting Marner had before Game 7, mentions how he can’t even make basic plays right now.” Host Jeff Marek added that he looks as frozen as he did in Game 7.
Friedman thinks these types of series “have a greater affect on hockey than any other sport, talks about the sanctity of the room, brings up how William Nylander and his agent fought to keep something out of the series.”
This has to tell fans how the series might have played with the players’ heads…
Let’s see how Marner and the rest of his teammates can move past this. The 2021-22 campaign is still young.
