Could Minnesota Wild general manager Bill Guerin be next? The latest on the Chicago Blackhawks’ sex assault investigation has led insider Katie Strang to wonder if Guerin could be next to lose his job.

On Tuesday, Stan Bowman stepped down as general manager and president of the Hawks in the wake of an independent investigation into allegations that a then-assistant coach sexually assaulted two players in 2010. He later also stepped down as the GM of the United States’ entry at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing in February.

Now Strang wonders could Guerin, who is not only the GM of the Wild, but also the Assistant GM of that USA team for Beijing, could be asked to step down as well. Last week, the U.S. Center for SafeSport has opened an investigation into Guerin after the wife of a former Pittsburgh Penguins coach alleged Guerin covered up her sexual assault when he worked for the franchise.

Let me refresh your memory: back in December 2020, Westhead revealed how former Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins assistant coach Jarrod Skalde had filed a lawsuit against then WBS Penguins head coach Clark Donatelli for an alleged sexual assault on Jarrod’s wife Erin Skalde while the three of them were together in a car during aa road trip to Providence, R.I. earlier in 2020. As they were headed back to their hotel, Jarrod alleged that Donatelli sexually assaulted Erin when they were briefly alone, first putting his arm around her, calling her “sexy” and pulling her close to him. Jarrod said that seven months later, when the incident was brought to the attention of Guerin, who told him to keep quiet about the alleged assault. Guerin was Pittsburgh’s assistant GM at the time and included in his duties was running the Penguins’ minor-league affiliate.

While Guerin is currently under SafeSport investigation for allegations of mishandling a separate, unrelated sexual assault allegation, he could be next indeed.

What do you make of this?
