We’ve heard a lot of chatter on potential trade destinations for Jack Eichel as the Buffalo Sabres have been looking to trade their former captain for the past months.
Several teams have entered, exited and re-entered the Eichel sweepstakes as many details change over the course of the Sabres’ attempt to trade their star forward. Finally, interested teams have expressed a willingness to make a move with the type of surgery Eichel is seeking. He favors having artificial disk replacement surgery. The Sabres have been against him having the procedure because it has never been performed on an NHL player. However, the Sabres’ way means that a patient could have three surgeries in 20 years. We can understand why Eichel wants to get it done his way.
Nothing has yet to be done when it comes to offers on GM Kevyn Adams’ table or that aforementioned surgery for that matter, but now pundits and even insiders like Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman are wondering if Eichel could choose to return to the Sabres’ lineup after undergoing the procedure and up his trade value.
Especially now that the Sabres have kicked off the 2021-22 season with a 3-0-0 record.
No one expected the Sabres to have this strong of a beginning to the new season. And we bet Eichel is just as stunned.
