Shocking turn of events in the front office of the L.A. Kings.
A drastic turn of events in the Kings front office after conflicting reports over the weekend.
It would seem that significant changes are coming to the Los Angeles Kings despite reports over the weekend that suggested the contrary.
On Saturday, reports began to leak out suggesting that both Kings general manager Rob Blake and Kings head coach Jim Hiller would be back for the 2025-26 National Hockey League season but we now know that at least half of that information was incorrect.
Things appear to have taken a drastic turn on Monday with NHL insider Elliotte Friedman now reporting that Rob Blake will not be back for another season, with Friedman reporting that both Blake and the Kings have agreed to a mutual parting of ways.
This is a huge shift in the Kings front office as Blake has been with the organization for well over a decade at this point. Blake was hired as an assistant general manager prior to the start of the 2013-14 NHL season and he would go on to win a Stanley Cup in his very first year with the organization. Blake was subsequently promoted to take over as vice-president and general manager of the Kings on April 10 of 2017, with his long tenure as GM seemingly now coming to an end.
Of course this will raise questions about the future of head coach Jim Hiller who will understandably be on the hot seat after some questionable decisions during the Stanley Cup playoffs, especially with a new general manager coming in that may very well want to hire his own head coach.
