Significant trade brewing in Montreal?
GM Kent Hughes might be up to something again…
HockeyFeed
Earlier this week, it was revealed that a monster sign and trade deal felt through between the Montreal Canadiens and the Edmonton Oilers, one that involved former free agent defenseman John Klingberg back in July.
Elliotte Friedman revealed how the Canadiens and the Oilers had a deal in place in which Montreal would have signed Klingberg to a one-year contract as a free agent before trading him to Edmonton with 50 percent of his salary withheld in return for compensation. It would have been a first in NHL history for a team to sign an unrestricted free agent and then immediately trade him.
But it did not happen.
Now there is chatter that another big move could take place in Montreal. According to what IB THE GAMBLER, the popular radio host Incarcerated Bob, reported a few weeks, GM Hughes is reportedly on track to pull a major trade in the coming weeks. The guy is reliable: he is a radio host from the New York area who also works as an insider for the NFL as well as the NHL. He has a few scoops under his belt in recent seasons.
The speculation remains vague though there is some ongoing chatter about the Habs looking to move a forward in order to beef up their back end ahead of the 2022-23 season.
When THE GAMBLER mentioned the rumour, he put a timeline of a few weeks which could land in the next days, ahead of training camp.
Let’s see what Kent Hughes has up his sleeves!
