The worst is confirmed for Raanta after Game 7 injury
The Hurricanes' netminder suffers a brutal injury
HockeyFeed
When Carolina Hurricanes netminder Antti Raanta left Game 7 against the New York Rangers on Monday night, 'Canes fans feared the worst. It appeared as if Raanta suffered a brutal knee injury as a result of lunging to make a save.
Here's the play in question:
Raanta left the game, forcing 22 year old rookie Pyotr Kochetkov to come in in relief.
The Hurricanes, of course, went on to lose the game and now the Hurricanes have confirmed that Raanta did indeed suffer an ACL sprain and will be on the shelf rehabbing for 6-8 weeks.
Raanta is still signed through next season with just $2 million cap hit, so if he can't recover fully the Hurricanes will definitely be in the market for another goaltender this offseason.
