Washington Capitals enforcer, Team Canada and Canadian hockey fans did not have to wait long to learn Tom Wilson's fate after he dropped the gloves during the Winter Olympic Games on Sunday.

Wilson was engaged in what is an atypical type of altercation when it comes to international hockey on Sunday when he took exception to a hit on Nathan MacKinnon. That hit was delivered by France's Pierre Crinon, and it was clear that Wilson immediately had his sights set on Crinon following the hit.

On the very next faceoff, Wilson would charge Crinon and pancake him along the end boards with a big body check, a body check that would eventually lead to the gloves being dropped. Both men received a game misconduct for their actions and there was concern that suspensions would follow, although we now know that neither Wilson nor Crinon will be suspended.

National Hockey League insider Elliotte Friedman was the first to report the news, revealing that both players have avoided a potential suspension. That is great news for both Team France and Team Canada, both of whom risked losing an important player before the most meaningful games of the tournament.

The game itself was a complete blowout as the Canadians were attempting to drive up the goal differential in order to secure top seed in the tournament. As a result, the game finished with a very lopsided score of 10-2 in favor of the Canadian squad.

Stay tuned for more Olympic coverage, the best is yet to come.
