Jake DeBrusk is getting lots of interest ever since he requested a trade from the Boston Bruins. TSN’s Ryan Rishaug first reported that eight teams have already reached to the Bruins and inquired on the winger, but predicted the number would only increase. And he was right.

On Tuesday night, Darren Dreger claimed that 12 teams and maybe more had checked it on DeBrusk. This is the latest update he gave on last night’s edition of Insider Trading.

“As many as 12 teams, maybe more than 12 teams have already checked in on the Jake DeBrusk situation with the Boston Bruins, but the reality is the Bruins now need Jake DeBrusk in their lineup. They’ve got Brad Marchand suspended, their American Hockey League team in Providence is dealing with a COVID issue, so they need him on the ice right now.”

Dreger listed some of the teams believed to have interest in DeBrusk at this point:

“I would say the New York Rangers are among the teams that have expressed some interest. You’ve got the Vancouver Canucks, maybe Montreal, maybe Calgary. Certainly Arizona. Go down the list. Historically speaking, when there’s been other Jake DeBrusk trade situations and speculations, the St. Louis Blues have been near the top of that list as well. You talk about a kid who could score 20 to 25 and he’s scored 16 times in the playoffs. So those stats matter.”

A change of scenery is what agent Rick Valette believes will be beneficial to his client. He was a healthy scratch on Sunday when the Bruins beat the Vancouver Canucks 3-2, but was part of Boston’s lineup *in the Detroit Red Wings’ 2-1 win. He ended with one shot, one hit, and10:25 of ice time.

He is a Edmonton native, with his father, former NHL Louie DeBrusk covering games over there. You have to expect that the Oilers could be linked to the trade chatter. But clearly the list of interested parties only keep growing…
