General manager Chuck Fletcher may be feeling some serious pressure as he heads into the 2017-2018 National Hockey League season.

In a recent article for NBC Sports, James O'Brien suggested that after numerous years of regular season success followed by what has largely been a total failure to deliver in the playoffs has Fletcher in a tough spot.

It was very long ago that owner Craig Leopold expressed his regret at the move the team made to acquire veteran Martin Hanzal, a move that was made by Fletcher albeit with Leopold's approval. O'Brien believes that Leopold may be running out of patience.

From NBC Sports:

Yeesh, how long is Leipold “willing to live with” Fletcher’s teams falling short of the mark, though? It had to cut deep for Leipold to see his former team, the Nashville Predators, come two wins short of a Stanley Cup before his own team even made a conference final.

The Wild did not make any major moves during the offseason despite being connected to a large number of rumors and if things do not get off to a good start under head coach Bruce Boudreau, Leopold may finally feel the need to bring in some new leadership.
