A smart move?

With the Toronto Maple Leafs officially clinching a playoff spot with yesterday evening's win over the Montreal Canadiens, head coach Sheldon Keefe has elected to play things safe with his lineup. Keefe has scratched veterans Jake Muzzin, Morgan Rielly, Nick Foligno and Jack Campbell for tonight's game, calling them "maintenance days."

I've got to say, I understand the strategy behind this move but I'm not sure I like it. Call me old school or call me a stodgy traditionalist, but I don't like tempting fate in this way. You play the games, you play hard and you deal with whatever may transpire. When you try to game the system by sitting healthy players out, I feel like you're just asking for trouble eventually. Then again... I'm not an NHL coach, so what do I know?
