Really tough break for a young rookie.

When New Jersey Devils rookie forward Michael McLeod was initially injured in the National Hockey League preseason, most reports suggested it did not appear to be any kind of serious injury.

Now however either McLeod has suffered a major setback, or perhaps the initial reports were misguided, but there is no longer any doubt that this is indeed a serious "lower-body injury."

The Devils have officially confirmed that McLeod will now miss the next four to six weeks after he underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee to repair a torn meniscus.

It's a tough way to start his NHL career, the 19-year-old center hasn't even had the chance to play in his first NHL game.
