25-year-old defenseman placed on waivers Friday.

There was only one waiver transaction of Friday.

ESPN insider Pierre LeBrun has reported that 25-year-old Winnipeg Jets defenseman Julian Melchiori has been sent to the waiver wire, presumably with the hope of sending him back down to the American Hockey League's Manitoba Moose.

While Melchiori is by no means a stand out NHL defenseman, he has been called up by the Jets over the past two seasons to provide the team depth on the blue line and has shown himself capable of filling in that role.

We would normally expect Melchiori to go unclaimed on waivers, however at this stage of the season with teams looking towards the playoffs there may be a contender who feels Melchiori's depth would be of use in their organization.
