At least one Canadian team won't be using jersey or helmet ads

As a hockey traditionalist, this gives me hope.

In case you missed it earlier this week, several NHL teams revealed jersey ads on their uniforms for the upcoming season and... well... let's just say that it didn't go over so well with fans.

While there's no official list of which teams will and won't display ads, we know at least that the Pittsburgh Penguins, Minnesota Wild, Washington Capitals, Vegas Golden Knights and Arizona Coyotes will all support ads this upcoming season.

We do know now though at least one Canadian team, the Edmonton Oilers, will NOT be wearing ads on their uniform at all in 2022-23. TSN reporter Tom Gazzola reports that the team will not wear jersey or helmet sponsor ads.

“As of now, hearing no sponsor on jerseys for this season and road helmets will have a sponsor on them but not home helmets,” Gazzola wrote on Twitter.

Hopefully more teams follow suit. Personally, I'm very opposed to the idea of seeing ads on jerseys.
