The Boston Bruins’ postseason came to an end on Saturday and in the following days, details came out on who was injured and who needs to undergo procedures.

Brad Marchand has been confirmed as one of them. Per Fluto Shinzawa of The Athletic, Marchand may require a hip procedure at some point. The extent of the potential surgery remains unknown, though hip injuries can be quite significant.

Marchand, who just recently turned 34 and has three years remaining on his contract, focused on the team’s future in his end of the season interview and never mentioned his health issues to reporters.

Instead, he talked about the Bruins being constructed as a team that can still win at a high level, whilst hoping his captain Patrice Bergeron can re-sign and keep going in Boston.

“With whatever happens with Bergy in the next couple of years and Pasta’s future deal then I still think that we have a lot of depth in this group, in this organization, especially with (Hampus Lindholm) coming in and some of the younger guys that took big steps this year. I think that we have an opportunity to be a competitive team at least until my contract’s through and hopefully we can make a few good runs in that time.”

But in order to make a few good runs, Marchand’s hip will need to be in top condition to help the Bruins accomplish this.
