Bickell to rejoin lineup following MS diagnosis!

He's come a long way.

A few stories pop up once in a while that inspire everyone in the league. It's not a matter of teams and scoring, just basic human feelings and courageous stories.

Bryan Bickell's story is exactly the type. The 31 years old was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis about 5 months ago and he had to hang the skates for a bit. Through his recovery, he was always positive and spoke of WHEN instead of IF all the time.

We learned today that he will rejoin the full Hurricanes lineup for Tuesday's game against the Wild. Granted, the Hurricanes will most probably miss the Playoffs this year. However, having Bickell rejoin the lineup is a pure and simple class act of the Canes part.

Bryan's contract ends this year and he will test the market with a UFA status in hand this summer. Playing a handful of games and, hopefully, perform well will help him find a new home. It would be hard for teams to trust his health enough to put him under contract, but Bickell is still a valuable bottom liner who will work hard each games he plays.

Here's a brilliant segment by Sportsnet about him.

Anyhow, simply lacing the skates again is a true victory for him. Well done sir, keep it up!
