Blackhawks & Devils team up to honor Jimmy Hayes.
A wonderful gesture for a good cause.
The passing of long time National Hockey League veteran Jimmy Hayes shocked the hockey world this year and left a young family in Massachusetts devastated.
Many from around the hockey world were quick to pay tribute to the former NHLer when he passed away but I am happy to announce that this week, the Chicago Blackhawks and the New Jersey Devils will be going above and beyond mere lip service and will be holding a special event to benefit both the Hayes family as well as charities of their choosing.
The teams are currently holding a very special auction where a number of limited edition jerseys will be up for grabs, jerseys that also will pay tribute to the late Jimmy Hayes. In the case of the New Jersey Devils the jerseys all have "Broadway" stitched across the back of the sweater, a tribute to the nickname that Hayes earned during his career in the NHL, and they will all feature the number 10. In the case of the Chicago Blackhawks the nameplate on the back will read "Hayesy" and if you've been a hockey fan for any length of time I don't need to explain how that particularly creative nickname came into existence. The Blackhawks jersey will sport the number 39 on the back.
While the jerseys themselves are special, what will make these truly unique is the fact that they will be autographed by current members of the Devils and Blackhawks. For the Devils Jonathan Bernier, Jesper Bratt, Mason Geertsen, Ryan Graves, Dougie Hamilton, Nico Hischier, Jack Hughes, Christian Jaros, Andreas Johnsson, Janne Kuokkanen, Michael McLeod, Dawson Mercer, Yegor Sharangovich, Jonas Siegenthaler, P.K. Subban, Tomas Tatar, Jimmy Vesey, and Pavel Zacha have all agreed to autograph a jersey for this auction.
The Blackhawks also have a large number of players participating in this great cause with Henrik Borgstrom, Kirby Dach, Calvin De Haan, Alex DeBrincat, Mackenzie Entwistle, Marc-Andre Fleury, Adam Gaudette, Eric Gustafsson, Brandon Hagel, Tyler Johnson, Seth Jones, Patrick Kane, Jujhar Khaira, Dominik Kubalik, Philipp Kurashev, Kevin Lankinen, Ian Mitchell, Jake McCabe, Connor Murphy, Jonathan Toews, and Riley Stillman all agreeing to sign jerseys for this charity auction.
If you're interested in checking it out for yourself, or if you just want to support a good cause, you can do so here.
