According to a report from Chicago Blackhawks insider Scott Powers of The Athletic, last season’s emergency goaltender Scott Foster, who got his 15 minutes of fame when he was thrust into action against the Winnipeg Jets, is back with the Blackhawks organization.

First Powers reported that Foster was on the ice for the Blackhawks’ morning skate today. Check it out:

But here’s the big news… Foster is joining the team indefinitely to help with optional skates!

Scott Foster is going to join the Blackhawks for optional morning skates going forward

"I think he likes the idea. It beats beer league," Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said with a laugh. "He'll be out here for optional skates as we go along here at home, so we have two goalies all the time."

For those who don’t remember Foster’s story, he’s the 36 year old accountant from Sarnia, Ontario who was thrust into action as the Blackhawks’ emergency goaltender against the Winnipeg Jets last season. Blackhawks goaltenders Anton Forsberg and Colin Delia were unable to finish the game, paving the way for Foster to play the final 11:59 of a 6-2 victory.

Foster was flawless, turning aside seven shots including a Game A opportunity from Jets sniper Patrik Laine.

"He definitely makes you work on your shot, "Blackhawks center Jonathan Toews said about Foster re-joining the team for practices. "It's not like you're shooting against some freshman goalie. It was pretty cool to see him go through what he did last year and the story that he was. He played well, so I think he's earned his chance to get back on the ice with the guys."
