Breaking: Anders Lee finally signs a new contract

With the rush of top tier free agent signings today, the second tier of unrestricted free agents has gotten a little less attention. Yeah, we all know about Artemi Panarin, Matt Duchene and Sergei Bobrovsky. What about players like Anders Lee, Jake Gardiner and Patrick Marleau?

Well, Lee, the New York Islanders’ captain, has reportedly made his decision and will be returning to Long Island. This according to NHL insider David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period.

No word yet on dollars or term, but there’s a sense out there that Lee was looking to cash in HUGE on this deal. Check out this report from Columbus Blue Jackets insider Aaron Portzline on Lee:
