It's starting to sound like the Winnipeg Jets are going to be selling off a lot of their assets prior to the deadline. While most of our readers are likely familiar with the rumors swirling around Andrew Ladd and Dustin Byfuglien another Jets player may also be on the trading block.

According to TSN hockey insider Darren Dreger Jets defenseman Tobias Enstrom could also be made available by Winnipeg and with two more years on his current contract he would be a long-term addition to any team acquiring him rather than just a rental player.

Whatever the Jets struggles this season Enstrom has remained a solid fixture on the Winnipeg blue line, and although his point production has dipped his improved +/- rating would indicate that is a result of a more solid defensive game. Enstrom comes at a $5.75 million cap hit so any team looking to acquire him would either need cap space or would need to send a big contract back the other way unless the Jets are prepared to retain salary.

Nonetheless a solid defenseman with multiple years of control is a valuable asset.
