Breaking: Big update on the Jarome Iginla rumors.

Earlier this week a huge rumor broke suggesting that the Edmonton Oilers had very serious talks with National Hockey League veteran Jarome Iginla, and needless to say that created a bit of a firestorm around the beloved forward.

For many fans in Calgary it would have been blasphemy to see a player who was the heart and soul of the Calgary Flames for so long sign with their hated rivals, and for those fans we may have some good news. 

Oilers insider Bob Stauffer has commented on those rumors today, and presumably after doing some checking with his sources he hasn't heard anything to suggest Iginla will be going to Edmton.

“I don’t believe it makes sense and I’m not getting any indications it’s going to happen at this time,” said Stauffer as per David Staples of the Edmonton Journal.

By all accounts Stauffer has some extremely solid contacts within the organization, so we have to lean towards his reporting on this matter at least for the time being. Keep in mind however that in these types of situations things could change at any time.
