We reported a week ago that the Carolina Hurricanes are reportedly on the verge of being sold, and that it doesn't sound like the plan is to relocate the team as of yet. Well we now have more information about a possible deal in place between the current ownership group of the Canes, and former Texas Rangers CEO Chuck Greenberg.

According to Jeff Gravley, of WRAL, "Greenberg and his purchasing partners are in the final stages of putting together their financial package. [...] So a business deal is in place and attorneys are now reviewing the agreement. So far, no red flags have popped up, just understand this is not a new car purchase, it takes time on this kind of sports business transaction."

According to various sources, the deal would be worth around $500 million.

However, we have to keep in mind that the possible sale of the Hurricanes needs to be approved by the board of governors of the NHL. The date of the next board meeting has not even been set, as of today. It is fair to believe we will have to wait a few more months before we know the conclusion of this interesting story.
