Datsyuk's agent is telling a different story.

A huge story broke today with reports coming out of Russia suggesting that veteran forward Pavel Datsyuk had agreed to terms on a two year deal with CSKA St. Petersburg of the KHL, and obviously would be leaving the National Hockey League and the Detroit Red Wings as a result.

However, despite the story being covered by multiple outlets in and out of Russia at this time, those reports have now been refuted, and considering the source we have to acknowledge it. None other that Datsyuk's agent, Dan Milstein, has informed Ted Kulfan of The Detroit News that the reports are not accurate, and in fact claims that Datsyuk has not spoken to any teams of any kind.

Now it's important to note that the agent says Datsyuk has not spoken to any teams, but doesn't state that he himself hasn't had discussion on behalf of his client, whether this is a case of him deliberately taking great care with his choice of words, or simply a total dismissal of this story is unclear at this time.

We will continue to monitor this story.
