Bad news, Habs fans.

The Canadiens have announced that defenseman David Schlemko has undergone surgery today, and will miss three to four weeks.

As we reported yesterday, contrary to what was the initial plan, the Montreal Canadiens were forced to go on their Western road trip without the veteran defenseman who was set to play his first game in a Habs jersey.

After a conditionning stint in the AHL, Schlemko was recalled and supposed to join the big team on their way to San Jose but he apparently suffered a setback to his injured hand and it's been announced he will not accompany the team at all and miss the entire week.

More details to come.
