Yesterday veteran Philadelphia Flyers' defenseman Mcihael Del Zotto hinted at the fact that his time as a Flyer was coming to an end. Now we have confirmation that both Del Zotto and another Flyers defenseman are on their way out.

According to a report from Mike Halford of NBC Sports, the Flyers will be parting ways with Del Zotto and will also be allowing veteran defenseman Nick Schultz to make his way to free agency this summer.

From Halford:

Schultz, 34, knew of his fate earlier. Like Del Zotto, he’s spent the last three years in Philly and, also like Del Zotto, is being allowed to walk in free agency so the club can usher in its prized young defensemen.

These will be two intriguing depth options for teams looking to bolster their blue lines in the offseason, but perhaps more importantly for fans in Philadelphia this will allow the team to usher in a new era on their blue line. One that will likely be led by names like Shayne Gostisbehere and Ivan Provorov.
