Former Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nikita Soshnikov has been placed on waivers by the St. Louis Blues.

The 25 year old Russian sniper has zero points in five games with the Blues this season, and managed just a goal and two points in 12 games with the team last season.

Soshnikov managed to play 56 games with the Leafs back in the 2016-17 season, picking up five goals and nine points.

He was traded to the Blues last February after threatening to bolt from the Leafs back to Russia and the KHL. At the time he had 17 points in 19 games with the Leafs’ AHL affiliate Toronto Marlies, but Soshnikov believed he was worthy of playing on an NHL roster. The Leafs granted him his wish and now less than a year later it looks like he may be heading back to the AHL.
