This is something we want to hear from you guys. We tried to be as neutral as we could, but you don't have to be.

Red Wings head coach Jeff Blashill appears to really want Riley Sheahan’s epic goal-scoring drought to end, as he’s been moved onto Detroit’s second Power-Play unit.

Expected to take position in front of the net, Sheahan will be in a great position to find the twine. Athanasiou and Larkin will be his line-mates, with Tartar and Green on defence.

So, is this move genius or incompetence?

Sheahan is certainly hungry for a goal, his goalless streak this season has made headlines in Detroit and across the NHL. Nobody wants to put an end to the drought, and all the unwanted attention is has garnered, more than Sheahan. But does that really mean he should be on the Power Play?

Sheahan is a defence-first forward, so regardless of his struggles on offence this season, goal scoring has never been his forte. Goal scoring is the point of the Power Play however. Detroit traded away a resurgent Thomas Vanek at the trade deadline, so the team’s options are a bit slim. Winger Darren Helm is still out of the lineup with a lower body injury sustained in a game against the Colorado Avalanche on March 18th.

Sheahan has made 95 shots on goal this season without scoring, the most since Craig Adams set the NHL at record 84 shots without a goal in the 2009-10 season.

That means he has to score, right? Right!?

Whether or not he’s their best option, the Red Wings could certainly benefit from Sheahan finding a little more offence before their season comes to an historic playoff-less close. The snapping of a playoff contention streak that has lasted twenty-five years is heartbreaking enough for fans in Hockey Town. Hopefully Jeff Blashill is right so the Red Wings, and Riley Sheahan, can find some success before they close out a season most are looking to forget.
