Montreal Canadiens fans fell in love with him this season and they will be glad to know that rookie Jesperi Kotkaniemi is doing well.

The team has just announced on Tuesday that the young forward underwent arthroscopic surgery on Tuesday on his left knee. The procedure was performed by Dr. Thierry Pauyo in Montreal.

''With regards to Jesperi, it was a chronic, minor injury that did not stop him from playing this past season. Jesperi will remain in Montreal for the coming weeks to complete his rehabilitation program with our team's medical staff. We have been told by our medical group that there should be no delay in starting his offseason training," said Canadiens general manager, Marc Bergevin.

His knee injury was termed a “chronic minor knee injury” that did not impede him from playing this past season. Bergevin explained that Kotkaniemi would rehab in Montreal over coming weeks and that off-season training schedule will not be affected.

In his first NHL season, Kotkaniemi recorded 11 goals and a total of 34 points to become a crowd favourite in 79 games with the Habs.
