The NHL landscape could be SO different today. WOW.

Pittsburgh Penguins superstar Evgeni Malkin was recently featured in a short documentary on Hockey Night in Canada, showing him under a different light than we're used to seeing him in.

He spoke of the difficulties of adjusting to North America and how former teammate and mentor Sergei Gonchar was a huge part of his success early in his career.

All was fine and well until the Russian star was asked if he thought about leaving Pittsburgh.

"I think about that. Maybe if like 5 years ago my contract was over, I change teams and I'm superstar, I could be number one," Malkin revealed. Obviously we know the rest - he decided to stay as Sidney Crosby's number 2 and won several Stanley Cups, so we can't say he made a wrong choice.

Still - if he had decided to take his talents elsewhere and be a team's bonafide number one center, would the Penguins still have won their two last Stanley Cups? It's unlikely. The NHL would be wildly different with one single move.

Malkin has an incredible 847 points in 722 regular season games, as well as 157 points in 149 playoff games.

Could you imagine him on a different team?
