Pure class once again from the hockey world.

The National Hockey League may not have an NHL franchise in the city of Houston, Texas, but despite that fact they have made a major contribution to the ongoing relief and rescue efforts in that city.

According to a report from Helene Elliott of the Los Angeles Times, the NHL and the National Hockey League Player's Association have joined together to make a large $200,000 donation in an effort to do their part.

Elliott reports that the money will be divided between both the Red Cross and Habitat for Humanity although how much money each organization will be receiving is unclear at this time.

No doubt additional donations will be made by players who feel it is appropriate to do so, but this is a terrific job from the league and the NHLPA of leading by example.
