One of the most surprising names that came up at the trade deadline was that of Philadelphia Flyers' captain Claude Giroux, and while that trade never materialized there are many who were curious about how closer things may have gotten.

This week Giroux made it crystal clear that he would be playing out the remainder of his contract in Philadelphia when he told NHL.con that he had no intention of going anywhere else.

"I've been in Philly for nine years and I don't plan on leaving," Giroux said as per NHL.com. "Like I said, it's not for me to make those decisions and I'm not leaving."

If Giroux says he's not leaving, he's not leaving. In a situation similar to the trade rumors that surrounded San Jose Sharks forward, and former captain, Joe Thorton, Giroux controls his fate thanks to a full no-movement clause in his contract.

This means the Flyers would need him to sign off on any trade they made involving him, and based on his comments it sounds like they would never receive any such approval, at least not in the foreseeable future.

This is one rumor you can now put to bed.
