The Mike Ribeiro saga continues, as the controversial NHL figure enters the NHL's rehabilitation program for at least the second time that we know of in recent years.

After being arrested in Florida for drunkenly trespassing on a woman's property, Ribeiro has been released on bail (1000$) by his ex-wife, and has willingly entered rehab for the second time since 2015, when he did so while with the Nashville Predators.

Ribeiro has been at the centre of several controversial stories, primarily involving sexual assault.

His bout with alcoholism was triggered by the end of his NHL career - after falling from grace and being demoted to the AHL, Ribeiro failed to sign a NHL contract this season, and that's when he went off the radar.

His agent, Bob Perno, reportedly was trying to reach out to his client but no one had heard from earlier this fall. To say Ribeiro's life has been a tumultuous mess as of late is practically an understatement.

La Presse's Richard Labbe revealed that Mike Ribeiro is preparing to sign his retirement papers in the upcoming weeks.

The 37-year-old was drafted 45th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in 1998, and played with several teams throughout his career, including the Dallas Stars, Nashville Predators, Phoenix Coyotes and the Washington Capitals.

He collected 793 points in 1094 games throughout his career.
