Breaking: NHL punishes Malkin for his action against the Kings!

The NHL player safety department announced that they have fined Pittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin $5,000.00 for his action against the Los Angeles Kings last night. Malkin speared Kings forward Dustin Brown. Brown also received a fine of $10,000.00 for cross-checking Penguins defenseman Justin Schultz later in that game.

Malkin, 31, has scored 21 goals and 28 assists for a total of 49 points in 44 games played so far this season. In 750 games played in the NHL so far, the second overall pick in 2004 has 349 goals and 532 assists for a total of 881 points. He added 157 points in 149 playoff games. He helped the Penguins to win three Stanley Cups (2009, 2016 and 2017. Malkin also won a total of six individual awards since the start of his career. 

The Penguins are currently fifth in the Metropolitan division with a record of 25-20-3. They're playing their next game tomorrow against the San Jose Sharks.
