In the second surprise announcement of the day in the National Hockey League, we have a trade!

The Ottawa Senators organization has announced that they have come to terms on a trade with the New Jersey Devils. The Senators will be getting 25-year-old defenseman Brandon Gormley from the Devils in exchnage for what at this time is being reported as "future considerations."

Gormley, a former Coyotes and Avalanche defenseman, has spent his time in the American Hockey League since joining the Devils and will remain there following this trade. Due to this trade taking place well after the deadline Gormley will not be eligible to join Ottawa's NHL roster.

If you missed it earlier the Las Vegas Golden Knights added their first player ever today, and you can read about it here.

Update: Despite Ottawa's claim that Gormley is not eligible to be called up, we believe this only applies to the postseason as per NHL rules. Nonetheless this is the official claim from the Senators.
