A trade on the way?

A National Hockey League franchise has just made a pair of very curious moves.

According to a breaking news report from from New York Islanders insider Arthur Staple of Newsday, the Islanders have cleared two spots on their roster by sending both Anthony Beauvillier and Steve Bernier down to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League.

The move has raised some eyebrows because the Islanders do not appear to have activated anyone off of injured reserve nor have they called up anyone else to their roster to full the spots left often by the two forwards they sent down.

There is now rampant speculation that the Islanders may have made some type of transaction to acquire one or more new players, perhaps a waiver pickup or even potentially a trade, although there are nothing more than rumors at this time.

Nonetheless this is a development worth watching as it's become very clear that the Islanders are going to do everything in order to convince captain John Tavares to sign with them long-term.
