The Edmonton Oilers reassigned defenseman Ryan Stanton to the AHL, the team announced on Sunday. Stanton did not play a game with the Oilers so far this season. He was signed as a free agent last summer.

The 28-year old St.Albert, Alberta native was never drafted, as he signed as an undrafted free agent with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2009. He played 120 games in the NHL with the Blackhawks, the Vancouver Canucks, the Washington Capitals and the Oilers, registering 27 points. At the AHL level, he produced 94 points in 366 games played (regular season and playoffs included).

The Oilers will play their next game on Wednesday against the Philadelphia Flyers.
