Breaking: Oilers expected to sign veteran Stanley Cup champion

With Yamamoto going back to junior, this makes total sense. Good move?

According to multiple reports, the Edmonton Oilers are expected to sign veteran Chris Kelly to a contract today.

The 36-year-old veteran center has been skating with the team since signing a professional tryout (PTO) deal during the preseason. But with rookie Kailer Yamamoto being sent to the WHL’s Spokane Chiefs earlier today, the team finally has a spot for Kelly in the lineup.

The veteran of 833 NHL games split between the Ottawa Senators and Boston Bruins has 123 career goals and 289 career points. Look for him to slot in on the Oilers’ fourth line and potentially get some time on the PK, as well.

Good move, Oilers fans?
